As we were setting off for France, my Father-In-Law told me that everywhere he travels, he bumps into someone he knows.
And I thought, OK, but in France....?
Late in the trip, we went to the Musee d'Orsay. Waiting in line to buy tickets, I looked over and thought, "That man looks just like Jean Chretien.... hang on, it is Jean Chretien!"
We caught his eye, said good morning and shook hands all around. And I thought, "How cool is that?"
Sadly, our group was separated at the time - Alan and Dad had come by cab and were already in the museum.
We got on with our visit. But as we were heading up to the Impressionist galleries, we bumped into M. Chretien again and had a little chat.
He's a huge fan of the Impressionists and a big believer in the value of public art galleries.
Shyly, we asked if we could take some pictures. "Of course!" he said with a smile. He gave the same response when I asked permission to post them on this little blog.
As I said - One Cool Dude.
When we eventually met up with Dad and Alan, they told us that they, too, had met him and had a very nice chat.
So, since Dad knew who he was, even if he didn't know Dad, I say his record stands.
